Honouring the Sacrifices of Freedom Fighters: Ram Mohan Naidu Leads Tiranga Yatra
In a stirring display of patriotism, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu led a Tiranga Yatra from Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan on August 13, emphasizing the importance of respecting the sacrifices and struggles of India’s freedom fighters. The yatra was part of the ongoing ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, an initiative aimed at strengthening the personal connection between citizens and the national flag.
A Nation United
Speaking to reporters, Naidu highlighted the remarkable development India has witnessed under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the last 12 years. He pointed out that the country has achieved numerous milestones in various sectors, including aviation, where even a common citizen can now fly with pride. The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking the sector to greater heights and building a developed India.
Honouring the Martyrs
Naidu also emphasized the significance of remembering the sacrifices made by freedom fighters during India’s struggle for Independence. He underscored the responsibility of citizens to respect the struggles and sacrifices of their forefathers and draw inspiration from them. In a notable move, the Prime Minister had earlier urged citizens to participate actively in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, terming the Tricolour as a source of motivation and pride.
The Power of the National Anthem
The Union Minister also drew attention to the recent legislation passed by Parliament to ensure the national anthem receives due respect. He noted that this move has been widely accepted, and people from Kashmir to Kanyakumari feel connected through their national anthem. This development is seen as a positive step towards building a unified nation.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign
The Tiranga Yatra was organized as part of the ongoing ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, an initiative launched under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The campaign aims to encourage citizens to bring the national flag into their homes and proudly hoist it to celebrate India’s Independence. The broader objective of Har Ghar Tiranga is to inspire patriotism among citizens and promote awareness about the significance of the Indian National Flag.
A Symbol of Personal Pride and Collective National Identity
The campaign was conceived with the idea of transforming the Tiranga from a symbol associated with official and institutional settings to a symbol of personal pride and collective national identity. This year, Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 is dedicated to the spirit of Vande Mataram, emphasizing the importance of patriotism and national unity.
In a statement on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reposted a Ministry of Culture post, saying, “Our Tricolour is our pride and a constant source of inspiration to always give our best for the nation.” He urged citizens to participate enthusiastically in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement and renew their collective resolve to contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat.
As the nation celebrates its Independence, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the importance of respecting their legacy. By embracing the national flag as a symbol of personal pride and collective national identity, citizens can come together to build a stronger, more unified nation.
