GCW Gandhinagar Summer Internship in Journalism Concludes
A Glimpse into the World of Print Media
The summer internship in journalism at GCW Gandhinagar has come to a close, marking the culmination of a three-week programme that immersed 90 students in the world of print media. The internship, which was conducted in two phases from June 4 to 18, 2026, and June 22 to July 6, 2026, aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and professional skills in the field of journalism.
Industrial Visit to Dainik Jagran Printing Press
The internship concluded with an industrial visit to the Dainik Jagran Printing Press at Bari Brahmana, where students got to witness the newspaper printing process firsthand. Organised in two groups on July 30 and 31, 2026, the visit provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of the print media industry. During the visit, students interacted with Anil Gakkhar, News Editor and Naveen Nawaaz Bureau Chief of Dainik Jagran, Jammu and Kashmir. Gakkhar shared his professional experiences and explained the technical aspects of newspaper production, leaving students with a wealth of knowledge and insights.
Practical Exposure and Training
The internship was designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice. Throughout the programme, participants received intensive training in the fundamentals of newspaper journalism, including news gathering, reporting, editing, headline writing, copy preparation, proofreading, page layout, and the ethical responsibilities of journalists. Through interactive sessions, practical assignments, and regular engagement with experienced professionals from Dainik Jagran, students gained valuable insights into the functioning of a newspaper organisation and the complete process of transforming a news event into a published newspaper.
