Odisha Remains on High Alert as Monsoon Lingers
Bhubaneswar: With the flood situation in Odisha gradually improving, the state government is urging citizens to remain vigilant as the monsoon season is far from over. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari addressed a press conference on Sunday, cautioning that the monsoon’s active phase still poses a threat to the state.
Floods: A Recurring Phenomenon in Odisha
“Floods are a recurring phenomenon in Odisha during the monsoon,” Pujari stated, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance. The minister acknowledged that while the situation has improved, complacency is not an option. With nearly 8 lakh people affected across 22 districts, the worst-hit areas include Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kataka, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur.

Pujari instructed district administrations to remain vigilant and respond promptly to any emerging situation. “The floodwaters have receded substantially, but the monsoon is still active.
