Telangana’s Youth in Crisis: KTR Slams Congress Government
In a scathing attack, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao on Monday accused the Congress government of betraying Telangana’s unemployed youth and engineering graduates. Rama Rao’s remarks came in response to the suicide note of Khammam youth G Venu, who took his own life allegedly due to frustration over the lack of employment opportunities.
“Chargesheet” Against Congress Government
Rama Rao described Venu’s suicide note as a “chargesheet” against the Congress government, highlighting its failure to deliver on election promises. He pointed out that the government had failed to create the promised two lakh government jobs, instead leaving unemployed youth frustrated and desperate. The BRS leader claimed that Venu’s letter blamed the government’s failure to provide employment opportunities for driving him to despair.
Congress Government’s “Criminal Waste”
Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of making Revanth Reddy, who faces 89 criminal cases, the Chief Minister of Telangana. He demanded that Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issue an unconditional public apology to Telangana’s youth and engineering students for allegedly insulting and betraying them. Rama Rao questioned whether the Chief Minister had ever appeared for a competitive examination, highlighting the irony of an individual with no experience in competitive examinations insulting educated youth.
Engineering Students’ Pride and Betrayal
Rama Rao praised engineers for building Telangana’s roads, buildings, the Secretariat, and the Command Control Centre. He remarked that engineering students knew not only how to build structures but also how to “politically bury” those who insult them. The BRS leader emphasized that engineering students had the skills and talent to drive Telangana’s growth, but the Congress government had failed to provide them with opportunities.
Fulfilling Election Promises: A Failure
Rama Rao accused the Congress government of failing to fulfill its election promises, including a Youth Calendar. Instead, he alleged, it had produced a “jobless calendar”, leaving unemployed youth frustrated and pushing some into depression and even suicide attempts. He claimed that the BRS government, on the other hand, had approved over 2.32 lakh government posts and completed more than 1.65 lakh recruitments, while the Congress government had provided only around 10,000 new jobs.
Demand for 15-Day Assembly Session
Rama Rao demanded a 15-day Assembly session to discuss youth promises, recruitment, and unemployment. He appealed to young people not to resort to suicide, assuring them that the BRS would stand by them and prioritize employment generation if it returned to power. The BRS leader questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the issue, asking why the Congress leader had not responded to the alleged betrayal of Telangana’s youth.
