Infrastructure Boost for Jakrem Village Ahead of Major Religious Events

Mawkyrwat MLA Embarks on Road Inspection

In a bid to prepare the infrastructure for two major religious events scheduled for 2028 and 2029, Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton L. Tongkhar recently conducted an inspection of the internal roads in Jakrem village. The visit, which took place on Saturday, was in response to a request from the Jakrem Dorbar Shnong, the village council, for the construction and blacktopping of 20 internal roads.

A Collective Effort to Facilitate Religious Events

The upgrades are aimed at facilitating the General Assembly of the Church of God (Meghalaya and Assam) in 2028 and the centenary celebrations of the Jakrem Catholic Church in 2029. These events are expected to draw a large number of devotees to the village, and the improved infrastructure will play a crucial role in ensuring their smooth conduct. The Jakrem Dorbar Shnong has been proactive in seeking the support of the MLA and other government officials to ensure that the village is well-prepared for these events.

A Team Effort to Assess Requirements

During the inspection, MLA Tongkhar was accompanied by PWD (Roads) Executive Engineer Joel P. Marbaniang, SDO Banjop Shylla, and Mawkyrwat BDO I. Lawryniang. The team met with Jakrem Myntri Pascal Wahlang and church elders to assess the requirements for the roadworks. The meeting was an opportunity for the MLA to understand the needs of the community and to gather feedback from the stakeholders.

Commitments and Assurances

Following the inspection, MLA Tongkhar assured the community that the PWD would prepare formal estimates for the requested roadworks. He committed to following up on these proposals to secure sanctions through the state government, the Chief Minister’s fund, and the MLA scheme. The MLA’s commitment to supporting the community’s infrastructure needs is a welcome development, and residents of Jakrem village are likely to benefit from these upgrades.

A Call for Collaboration

In addition to the roadworks, MLA Tongkhar also requested the BDO to explore block-level resources and work in coordination with village authorities to undertake specific construction projects for the benefit of the public. This call for collaboration is a positive step towards ensuring that the community benefits from various government schemes and initiatives. By working together, the MLA, BDO, and village authorities can achieve their goals and provide better infrastructure and services to the people of Jakrem village.

A Bright Future Ahead

The infrastructure upgrades planned for Jakrem village are a significant development, and the community is likely to benefit from these improvements. With the support of the MLA and other government officials, the village is well on its way to becoming a more accessible and livable place. As the village prepares to host major religious events, the upgraded infrastructure will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth conduct of these events and providing a better experience for the devotees.
