Andhra Pradesh Shines at State-Level Under-19 Chess Championship
In a proud moment for Andhra Pradesh’s chess fraternity, eight talented players have been selected to represent the State at the National Under-19 Chess Championship, scheduled to take place in October. The selection was made after a grueling two-day tournament, the State-Level Under-19 Chess Championship, which concluded in Visakhapatnam.
240 Young Minds Emerge for the Championship
A total of 240 young chess enthusiasts from across Andhra Pradesh participated in the tournament, showcasing their skills and strategies on the chessboard. The event was organized by the Visakha Chess Association and Aditya Chess Academy under the aegis of the Andhra Chess Association. The selection process was overseen by a panel of experienced officials, including Adusumilli Suresh, the President of Andhra Chess Association, Secretary Jagadish, Vice-President Venkateswara Rao, and Tournament Director.
Boys’ Section: Talent Unfolds
In the boys’ section, Alluri Bhaskara Ratna Shanmukha Reddy from East Godavari district emerged as the champion, securing the top spot. He was followed closely by Gnana Sai Santhosh from Kakinada, Majji Ram Charan Tej from East Godavari, and Jayaprakash Vanam from Kakinada. These four talented players will now don the Andhra Pradesh jersey at the National Championship.
Girls’ Section: New Stars Rise
The girls’ section saw Sharvani Cheedipalli from NTR district taking the top spot, showcasing her exceptional skills. She was followed by Sravya Sri Bhimarasetti from Anakapalle, Himisha from Visakhapatnam, and Gorli Naina from Visakhapatnam. These young players have made their mark on the chess map of Andhra Pradesh and will now represent their State at the National Championship.
Inauguration and Valedictory Function
The championship was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner of Police Lakshmana Murthy and Sri Viswa Educational Institutions directors Siva Ganesh and Sivaji, who made the ceremonial first move. The valedictory function was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Andhra Chess Association CEO Neelima Balli, All Visakha Association president Rangala Babu Rao, Anakapalle district secretary Amalakantha Srinivasa Rao, representatives of Aditya Chess Academy, and officials of Sri Viswa Educational Institutions.
