Students’ Protest: HM to Give Reply, Says Rijiju Amid Heavy Sloganeering in Lok Sabha
New Delhi, August 10 – The Monsoon Session of the Lok Sabha entered its final week on Monday, with the Opposition continuing to protest over the NEET paper leak issue and police action against the protesters on July 20. The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Kiren Rijiju, assured the House that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will make a statement on the issue, but the Opposition’s sloganeering and placard-waving continued to disrupt the proceedings.
Opposition Demands Home Minister’s Response
The Opposition has been demanding the Home Minister’s answer over the police “brutality” against the students during the protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20. Chairman’s Plea for Decorum
Jagdambika Pal, who was in the Chair, urged the Opposition MPs to maintain the decorum of the House. He advised against flashing placards, citing Parliamentary traditions. However, the Opposition’s sloganeering continued, and the House was eventually adjourned for the day.
Tribunal Reforms Bill Passed Amid Ruckus
Despite the Opposition’s ruckus, the Tribunal Reforms Bill, 2026, was passed in the Lok Sabha. Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal rose to speak about the bill, but his words were drowned out by the Opposition’s slogans.

Pal questioned the Opposition’s tactics, saying, “When the Home Minister is ready to answer, you are not ready for the discussion. When the Parliamentary Affairs Minister has assured you, then why are you creating this chaos? This means that you only come here to flash placards.” His words highlighted the Opposition’s continued disruption of the House proceedings.
