Karnataka’s Electoral Roll Sees Significant Revision in SIR-2026
Bengaluru, June 2026: The Election Commission of India has completed the roll revision for the state of Karnataka under the SIR-2026 process. A staggering 1.11 crore voters have been marked under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate/Already Enrolled, and Others (ASDDO) category, accounting for 20.03% of the total electorate.
A Breakdown of the ASDDO Category
The ASDDO category includes electors who have been permanently shifted, absent or untraceable, deceased, already enrolled elsewhere, and those listed under other reasons. A total of 66.64 lakh electors have been classified as permanently shifted, while 16.30 lakh are marked as absent or untraceable. Deceased electors number 16.30 lakh, and 6.89 lakh electors have already been enrolled elsewhere. The remaining 4.89 lakh cases fall under other reasons.
Electoral Roll Revision: A State-Wise Analysis
The districts of Bengaluru Urban, BBMP South, BBMP North, and BBMP Central account for over 50 lakh electors listed under the ASDDO category. Bengaluru Urban tops the list with 18.13 lakh electors, followed by BBMP South with 11.07 lakh, BBMP North with 11.07 lakh, and BBMP Central with 9.15 lakh. Other districts with high ASDDO numbers include Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Dharwad.
Digitisation Progress: A Mixed Bag
The Election Commission has made significant progress in digitising Enumeration Forms, with 79.93% of the forms processed as of June 16, 2026. However, digitisation rates vary across districts, with Udupi recording the highest rate at 93.95%, followed by Haveri, Uttara Kannada, and Dakshina Kannada. In contrast, BBMP South recorded the lowest digitisation rate at 48.35%, followed by BBMP Central, BBMP North, and Bengaluru Urban.
Enrolment of Eligible Citizens: A New Initiative
In a bid to facilitate the enrolment of eligible citizens who will attain 18 years of age on or before October 1, 2026, the Election Commission has printed and supplied 10 lakh Form-6 applications to Electoral Registration Officers in Bengaluru and the Greater Bengaluru Area.
Applications Received: A Significant Number
Between June 16 and August 4, 2026, election authorities received a total of 12.20 lakh applications, comprising 3.72 lakh Form-6 applications, 3,207 Form-6A applications, 30,952 Form-7 applications, and 8.13 lakh Form-8 applications.
Electors Listed Under ASDDO: Verification and Restoration
Electors who have been wrongly classified as ASDDO can have their Enumeration Forms restored through the BLO or the Electoral Registration Officer until August 8, 2026. The Election Commission has shared ASDDO lists with recognised political parties and made them available with Booth Level Officers for verification.
