According to officials, the police were conducting a night check in the Khukhundu police station area of Deoria when two suspects, later identified as Kaleem Sheikh and Musafir Shah, attempted to flee upon seeing the police. In the ensuing encounter, one of the accused sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. The police managed to arrest both suspects, bringing an end to their reign of terror in the region.

A search of the duo yielded two illegal country-made pistols, two spent cartridges, two live cartridges, two mobile phones, a motorcycle, and a gold necklace that had been looted. Separate Operation in Maharajganj: Smuggler Arrested
In a separate operation, the police arrested a smuggler in Maharajganj district who was planning to send goods to Nepal. Acting on precise information from an informant, a joint police and administrative team, led by the Nautanwa SDM and the Nautanwa Circle Officer, raided a location in the Bhundi neighbourhood of Nautanwa.
Smuggled Goods Recovered
During the operation, nine sacks of fertiliser, bundles of clothing, and a large quantity of hookah-related materials were seized from the site. The administrative team confiscated the recovered items and initiated an investigation regarding the premises.

Officials stated that strict legal action under relevant sections is being taken against those involved in the matter. The police are committed to cracking down on smuggling and other forms of organized crime in the region.
